SAME RIVER TWICE WINES

We are James Dunstan and Shoko Nakagawa. We moved from Tokyo to the Ventoux to make lighter, fresher Rhône wines for how we eat and drink today.

Our wines are built on:
PLACE - Ventoux, the cool face of the Southern Rhône.
CRAFT - Grenache-based blends made with restraint and natural balance.
EXPERIENCE - Ours and yours. We select fruit from a single grower to create wines for sharing at the table with a wide range of dishes in casual settings.

Ventoux. Limestone soils. Higher altitude. Mountain air. Big day-night temperature swings. A long growing season. All preserve natural freshness.

It’s also beautiful, with a rich biodiversity. And over 2,000 years of winemaking tradition.

Ideally suited to produce the kind of fruit we seek for our style of wine.

It’s also a place we love and one James has visited regularly since childhood.

From sustainably farmed, healthy, living soils (some certified organic, some not). No irrigation. In harmony with nature.

Ingredients: just grapes and minimal sulphites. No oak. No excess weight. No added or residual sugar. Lower alcohol, without excessive extraction. Grounded in tradition, focused on how we drink now.

Bottled in lightweight (420g) glass, under Diam cork for perfect condition, capsule-free to reduce waste.

Lighter wines, lighter bottles, lighter life.

Twenty years in Japan - importing, buying, serving wine - has shaped our taste and informs our winemaking in the Ventoux.

Instead of owning vines, we prefer to work with one grower whose vineyards, farming and winemaking align with our vision. His family have farmed here for three centuries. He’s been making wine for thirty years, and working as an oenologist for twenty.

Together we select the fruit to make wines with a clear sense of place that sit naturally at the table. With our shared, cross-cultural experience, we shape the blends to bring out freshness, balance and finesse. They combine classical structure with generous, juicy, pure fruit. Alive in the glass, evolving with time. Same River Twice.

Best served a little cool.
