Same River Twice Vin de France Rouge 2018 is a red wine from the beautiful, historic wine region of the Ventoux, near Gigondas and Vacqueyras, where landscape is one of hills and mountain, wild Provençal herbs that perfume the air, pine woods, lavender, olive trees, vines, and beautiful light. The dry, sunny Mediterranean climate is perfect for growing grapes.
The 2018 is a fresh take on a classic blend of Grenache Noir with a touch Syrah that expresses aromatic richness of place with fruit purity for freshness and drinkability.
Grenache provides the flesh of black cherry, red berry fruit and herbes de provence, Syrah the spine of cool spicy notes of blackberry, cassis and black coffee. It’s dry, medium-bodied, with lively acidity and juicy, smooth tannins. Clean and persistent, it presents youthful energy.
The vines are between 40 and 50 years old and are grown on poor, stony, clay-limestone soils. Organic after flowering, the vineyard is farmed for sustainability with minimal treatments and use of tractor.
The wine is made with a light of touch in steel tank by native yeast, aged in concrete tank and bottled after a light filtration. There are no additives, and no manipulations other than a light dose of sulfites.
It was bottled on June 28 2019. It will evolve gently and give pleasure over several years.
